1980 - confirmed by Dimarzio Inc. to be a Super Distortion. Bridge pickup with brass base, pole pieces are black hex sockets, 2 wire connection with ground, full size humbucker. This is the pickup that pushes amps to their limit for a full range (low, mid, high) of sounds from maximum distortion to sweet mellow tones. It is the pickup that all other high output pickups are measured against. Used by artists such as Ace Frehley, Al Di Meola, Phil Collen, Tom Scholz and Paul Gilbert. This price is half the cost of a new unit that is still made by Dimarzio. This 1980 pickup will give a better sound than a new unit.
