JOB SUMMARY: _Responsible for implementing a Montessori curriculum statement utilizing AMI or another recognized developmentally appropriate Montessori practice. _Supports Christian Montessori Academy's efforts toward achieving and maintaining Montessori Professional Standards. _Organizes and manages the classroom, plans daily curriculum, facilitates student's growth in developmental, academic and cognitive domains by promoting student participation in the learning experience. _Periodically assesses student growth and development and reviews assessment results with parents. Communicates with parents effectively both verbal and in written format. _Works with staff members in a professional and ethical manner with a willingness to develop and maintain a cooperative team approach. QUALIFICATIONS: Montessori Certificate and a degree in Child Development from an accredited institution is required. In addition, a minimum of 10 months experience working as an intern under a Montessori lead teacher in a mixed age Montessori classroom. A minimum of 12 ECE units may be substitute for a Child Development degree. DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide and maintain a neat and organized classroom * Provide and supervise a healthy emotional, social, intellectual and physical environment for the development of each child. * Implement monthly changes in Montessori materials, bulletin boards art work and parent boards. * Keep updated observation cards/files on each child. * Be available for parent conferences during scheduled times and as needed. * Prepare accurate progress on each child. * Share all cleaning responsibilities with you, assistant and other staff members. * Communicate clearly and respectfully with the assistant and other staff members at all times. * Provide assistant with written expectations of responsibilities. * Classroom maintenance and care of the children are shared responsibilities. * Encourage parent participation in school programs and functions whenever possible.
