This position is responsible for managing CGC's commercial community kitchen and the catering, processing, and meal preparation. This position is full time, contract position. Duties are: Kitchen Management: * Adherence to Island Health Authority Food Safety guidelines, recording, and reporting * Daily cleaning * Complete, submit, and track all Food Safety Plans * Monitor all equipment including the dishwasher sanitation and freezer/cooler temperature logs * Weekly menu planning, staffing and volunteer schedules * Liaise with the Meals on Wheels coordinator * Order kitchen cleaning and dishwasher supplies * Manage inventory of meals, food ingredients and weekly shopping. * Marketing and promoting the products Kitchen duties: * Receive recovered food, sort, and process and/or prepare meals * Prepare value-added products * Develop additional recipes * Design product labelling * Co-ordinate with reFRESH Marketplace Manager for pricing and inventory * Assist with organizing community events/meals * Assist with planning and organizing catering * Plan and coordinate monthly Meals on Wheels menu * Liaise with Meals on Wheels delivery drivers. Staffing: * Supervise other kitchen staff, and volunteers * Complete timesheets Finance: * Assist with kitchen budget: o kitchen expenses o preparing quotes for catering o tracking costs of meals o monthly invoicing Experience and Knowledge: * Current Food Safe certificate * Certificate/diploma in food services * Minimum 5 years' experience in a busy community kitchen environment required. * Experience working with volunteers * Excellent skills and knowledge in food industry - cooking, preserving, processing, and meal planning * Excellent organizational skills * Good knowledge of Word, Excel, FB, and Internet. * Two + years at a non-profit organization. * Primarily a kitchen environment. Standing for long periodw. * Some office work for planning, budgeting, and scheduling. * One year contract 35 hrs/wk, with occasional evenings and weekends * The remuneration based on experience minimum $18/hr with 3 month probationary.
