Kitchen Assistants – 2 Dishwashers / 2 Prep Cooks

We are seeking 4 people to complement our team from Jan 29 - Feb 12, 2020 for temporary full time work with shifts between 6:30 am - 8:30 pm weekends, 7 am - 8:30 pm Mon to Fri. You will be expected to be trustworthy, prompt and thorough in your duties, and that your interaction with students and staff are to be courteous and respectful. We are located away from the local bus service. A vehicle is necessary to reach the school campus in Shawnigan Lake. As a school, you must be able to clear a Criminal Records Review in order to be working on campus. Knowledge, skills and attributes: * Food Safe Level 1 certification * An eye to detail - assures the job is complete * Able to perform manual tasks and physical demands that require periods of standing, lifting, bending, twisting * Can work cooperatively as part of a team and with other school staff * Able to work with minimal supervision * Able to communicate clearly, effectively and respectfully * Able and willing to function in a changing work environment * Provide cooperative team support to accomplish needs and tasks * Fluency in oral and written English * Neat, well-groomed appearance * Current Criminal Record Check DUTIES include: * Operating a commercial dishwasher, loading and unloading dishes and ensuring all dishes and utensils are clean and sanitary * Washing pots and pans by hand * Ensuring kitchen areas are in a clean, safe and sanitary condition * Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment * Informing Kitchen Coordinator of any equipment malfunction * Maintaining an organized and clean work area * Washing floors * Preparing items as assigned by Kitchen coordinator or their designate * Attending to other kitchen needs that may arise * Adhering to guidelines set out by Food Safe and Work Safe BC * Performing any other related duties which may be required. * Having respectful interactions with staff and students Dishwasher starting wage from $14.15-14.35 Prep cook starting wage from $15.65-15.85 To apply, send a note stating your desired position along with your resume and 2 recent references.
