This position will be accountable for the following: Process produce from the garden on site or any from local farmers Research recipes to utilize any produce or herbs Get recipes approved from Island Health to be able to sell products Develop additional value-added product recipes and packing including frozen meals, dried foods, and canning Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing other project deliverables Communicate clearly with the manager, participants, volunteers, farmers, and community members Keep the Manager fully informed on the status of the project deliverables. Perform other duties as required by the Manager Experience and Knowledge: Some skills and knowledge in food industry – cooking, preserving, processing, an asset Certificate/diploma in food skills is an asset. Workable knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Quickbooks, Google Drive, Zoom, and the Internet. Two or more years of work at a community non-profit organization an asset This position will work on a contract basis of 35 hours per week, with occasional evenings and weekends for the duration of the contract to March 31, 2022 The remuneration is based on Employment Insurance amounts dependent on each applicant’s situation. Eligibility To qualify participants must be: Receiving Employment Insurance (EI) Or eligible for reach back – on EI within the last 5 years Collected CERB Collecting Disability Assistance Contract length - March 31, 2022 Expected start date: asap Salary: $16.40 per hour (max EI)
