Job Title: Material Handler Reports to: Production Manager / Planning Team Date: December 2021 Summary: - Uses Material Resource Planning system to ensure that all workcenters are supplied with all the material and information required to perform their next job. - Material handler uses forklifts and manual labour to move steel and other metals from one operation to another ensuring jobs flow smoothly through the shops. Training: - Safety training and job specific MRP software training will be provided. - Valid forklift license is an asset, will send the right applicant to training. - Experience in inventory control / warehousing an asset. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Print off “Dispatch Reports” - Determine the number of hours per day of work required at each work center or work group. - Clock into jobs to accurately record your time moving parts and material. - Use MRP system to find the jobs that are needed to be worked on next at each area, and physically move the jobs and material where they are required. - Set up “Job Bins” for assemblies and pull parts for them as required by their material pick list. “Issue” the material in the MRP system to ensure it is correctly attributed to the job cost, and it removed from the computer inventory. - Label and move “Job Bins” to the assembly area and keep in order so that they may be worked on in a moment’s notice. - Remove parts that are completed at a work center and bring them to their next operation. - Ensure workflow is clear and organized, and that tradesmen do not need to search for any jobs.
