Outreach Worker

Cowichan Housing Association is currently seeking an Outreach Worker to provide outreach services and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan set out by the Covid-19 Vulnerable Population Cowichan Task Force, located at the outdoor cabin sites and the Ramada Hotel in Duncan, BC. Position Overview: • Provide trauma informed support and outreach for homeless individuals, who have multiple risk factors: mental health, addictions, and are involved in high-risk activities. • Provide overall community outreach. • Work in a collaborative practice model with community agencies and the Covid-19 Vulnerable Population Cowichan Task Force. Qualifications: • Mental Health, Community Social Service or related certification or recent, related experience of 2 years or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work. • Knowledge of working with mental health or substance use issues. • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention. • Knowledge of collaborative practice and ability to work with a variety of professionals. • Well developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written communication skills. • Certificates in First Aid + CPR. Hours of Work: Part-time to a maximum of 35 hours per week working through the weekend. May including some evening work. The schedule and hours are subject to change based on the community needs. Term Employment to November 27, 2021, with the possibility of an extension. Hourly wage of $28.00 per hour. Conditions of Work: Ability to perform the requirements of the job, which include working independently with at risk individuals at outdoor cabin sites.
