Victoria Harbourcats 2019 Season: August 2019

Looking for the best summertime sports entertainment in town? Then get yourself to a Victoria HarbourCats game at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park! The HarbourCats are in first place in the North Division of the West Coast League and have already secured a 2019 playoff spot! Come support the ‘Cats in their final regular season home series against the Port Angeles Lefties, August 9th (6:35 pm), 10th (6:35 pm) and 11th (1PM). August 10 is a FIREWORKS NIGHT, the last of the year!  First round playoff games scheduled for Wednesday August 14th (6:35 pm) and August 15th (6:35 pm if necessary). Sunfest Cowichan: August 1-4, 2019

Join us at Sunfest Country Music Festival this August long weekend at Laketown Ranch in Lake Cowichan. Featuring performances by Jason Aldean, Maren Morris, Kip Moore, Randy Houser, and many more across multiple stages during the four-day festival. 30th Annual Victoria Symphony Splash: August 4, 2019

The 30th annual Victoria Symphony Splash takes place on August 4th. From the floating stage in Victoria’s picturesque Inner Harbour, Maestro Christian Kluxen, the Victoria Symphony, Naden Band and 2019 Splash Young Soloist Carey Wang will perform to an enthusiastic crowd of 40,000 people. The day begins at 1 pm with activities for families in the Splash Family Zone and ends with Victoria Symphony’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” accompanied by fireworks and field guns. -30- Event details at victoriasymphony.ca.

Dodd’s 10th annual Walk for Peace: August 4, 2019

Gordy Dodd’s 10th annual Walk for Peace takes place this Sunday, August 4th in support of Victoria Hospice. Inspired by Siri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who walked thousands of miles and inspired many other Peace Crusaders over generations, local dignitaries and special guests will be introduced at 10am under the Global Tents at the Beacon Hill Park Bandshell Stage. After the Walk at 11, everyone’s invited to mix & mingle, and enjoy a free vegetarian lunch.

Largest Little Airshow: August 10-11, 2019

Victoria’s Largest Little Airshow is held every summer at Michell Airpark (on Lochside between Martindale and Island View Road) August 10th and 11th 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m The event draws thousands of spectators and over 30 pilots annually from the U.S. and Canada.

Visit Victoria’s Largest Little Airshow for non-stop aerial action, a huge static display, lots of raffle prizes, daily 50/50 draws, a yummy concession, kids activities and free parking! Admission is by donation and 100% of all proceeds will be donated to CFAX Santas Anonymous. Bring the whole family and spend the day with us. Have a great time and help out a local charity. This is the best event of the summer. Don’t miss it!

 

Torque Masters Car Show in Sidney:  August 11, 2019

Come to one of the biggest Collector Car shows on Vancouver Island this summer. The streets of downtown Sidney BC ( minutes from Victoria or the Swartz Bay ferry terminal ) are host to hundreds of cars and light trucks on Sunday August 11, 2019 from 8am until 3pm. If you want to show your vehicle, be at the Mary Winspear Centre off Beacon Avenue before 7am to register ($20). We welcome all makes and models, and vehicles are on display from new to old. More than 15 trophies are available to be won, including the Canadian Tire North Saanich Best in Show. If you want to look at the cars, come to downtown Sidney any time after 8am and walk Beacon Avenue from 5th Street to the waterfront. The show includes side street display areas on 4th, 3rd, and 2nd streets as well. There are typically 300+ cars and light trucks on display. The show includes related equipment and service vendors, food vendors, live music, onsite media, and our chosen charity, the Cops for Cancer. Come enjoy downtown Sidney this Sunday August 11th…!

 

Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria: August 17, 2019

18th Annual Victoria Greek Fest: August 23-25, 2019 & August 30-September 2, 2019

Live a day the Greek Way! OPA!!!

With fabulous food, exciting entertainment and joyful shouts of “OPA,” the 18th Annual Victoria Greek Fest will take place over two weekends from Friday, August 23rd thru to Sunday the 25th and from August 30th thru September 2nd, at the Greek Community Centre, 4648 Elk Lake Drive (beside Commonwealth Pool). ADMISSION IS FREE for the whole community!

The Festival will feature delicious Greek food, Greek desserts, baked goods, traditional Greek Dancing by International Dance Groups, live music from local artists and many other different programs of entertainment from around the world. Entertainment will run continuously throughout the day.Last year’s event drew over 23,500 Victorians to the celebration! We are expecting more this year RAIN OR SHINE under our HUGE tents! Vancouver Island Concours d’Elegance & Motorcar Weekend: August 25, 2019

Every year, we strive to host a show that is unique and one that provides an exciting experience to keep our supporters intrigued. In the last 7 years, the show has grown from 85 cars, to 600, gathered over 10,000 spectators and raised over $1 million dolllars for our local families in need. Once again, 100% of all funds raised this year will support the David Foster Foundation, the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation and a selection of other local families on Vancouver Island. The event will take place on August 25th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Shawnigan Lake School. We hope you are as excited as we are for this year’s event!

151st Saanich Fair: August 31 – September 2, 2019

It’s an adventure that encourages you to get out of your comfort zone and challenges you to rappel from the top of an iconic building in downtown Victoria.

Join hundreds of Canadians who have taken the challenge and supported Easter Seals programs and services that encourage individuals living with a disability to live life actively, pushing their boundaries to contribute to the well-being of themselves and their communities.
Your hard-earned fundraising dollars will support Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan and Easter Seals House – a home-away-from-home for families travelling to Vancouver for medical care and treatment.
