Greater Victoria Flower Count – March 8-15

The Greater Victoria Flower Count, hosted by Destination Greater Victoria and the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, is a light-hearted event focused on spreading spring cheer. Victorians spend this week exploring their neighbourhoods, eagerly counting and snapping photographs of the early blooms that decorate our communities.

This year marks the 48th Annual Flower Count, and we are encouraging community members to track blossoms and #ExploreVictora. Using photos tagged with #FlowerCount, we will be highlighting blossoming blooms on our social media account from March 8th – 15th and awarding great prizes!

That’s not all – every day of Flower Count Week, Used.ca’s Spot The Bloom contest allows one virtual flower hunter to walk with a fabulous local prize package. We invite you to search UsedVictoria.com’s pages for the day’s hidden bloom ad and fill in your contact details once you find it. Good luck, and happy counting!

Eves of Destructions Roller Derby 2023 Season

Our home season begins March 18 with a double-header at Eagle Ridge in Langford, where our junior team, The Rotten Apples, will bout Vancouver Junior Roller Derby and The Hard Cores will battle the Brick House Betties.

This will be our first full season back to normal since the pandemic, and our league has been working incredibly hard to continue to bring high level roller derby to our fans here in Victoria. We are a non-profit league run by the skaters and supported by volunteers and fans. Our league is comprised of six teams: our juniors, the Rotten Apples; our rookie team, the Hard Cores; our three house teams: the Margarita Villains, the Belles of the Brawl, and the Daisy Pushers; and finally our WFTDA charter team, The A Team.

Our second annual Capital City Chaos tournament, will run on April 8, featuring our A Team and Greater Vancouver and Saskatoon Roller Derby at Archie Browning Sports Centre in Esquimalt. It was a smash hit as our first WFTDA tournament in 2019, and we are thrilled to be able to bring it back this year. Double headers will follow each month at Archie Browning: on May 6, June 10, July 6, and finally wrapping up on August 19th with our infamous house team battle for the Calamity Cup.

Buy tickets here. If you want to connect with us on social media we are @eodrollerderby on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok

Wild ARC’s Online Auction – March 18 – March 26

Wild ARC’s 2023 Online Auction raises lifesaving proceeds to help with animals that are ill, injured or orphaned. Wild ARC begins to see baby animals in need as early as March and April, and the summer months are the busiest season for wild animal patients.

YOU, our loving community members, can be a hero for these animals when they are most vulnerable.

We invite you to view and bid on the incredible auction items available (valued at over $18,000 altogether) donated by caring and generous businesses and private supporters.

Your participation in our auction means we can keep doing what we do best – caring for wildlife!

The auction is open Saturday March 18 at 12:00pm and bidding closes Sunday March 26, 2023 at 12:00pm.

Wild ARC is the only wildlife rehabilitation centre on southern Vancouver Island. In 2022, Wild ARC treated 2,459 animals from all over the region, helping them recover for their best chance of return to the wild.

We hope you have fun at these wonderful, local events this Winter! If you’d like Used.ca to be a sponsor of your event on Vancouver Island, please contact our Community Manager, Carly.
