We are looking for a kind, compassionate person to help with cooking, cleaning, running errands, driving, assisting wheelchair user with various outdoor activities and pet care tasks at our home in Lake Cowichan. This position is 5 hour shifts 5 days/ week from 3PM-8PM or 2PM-7PM. It pays $25/hour; evening and holiday work is required. Qualities/experience needed: Experience working as a caregiver/cleaner/cook or a combination of these Kind, empathetic, caring personality A good fit with our household Comfortable caring for and understanding of someone with chronic illness Self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks independently Able to follow directions both written and verbal Must like dogs and be comfortable with a big, friendly medical assistance dog Enjoy cooking and able to follow strict dietary restrictions Knowledge of household cleaning, familiarity with non-toxic cleaning products is an asset Physically fit, able to lift 50lbs and be able to hold a big dog on leash Live in/near Lake Cowichan or be willing to commute Reliable transportation to and from work Valid driver's license and clear driving abstract Must be legally able to work in Canada and be able to provide good references Clear criminal record Non-smoker and willing to comply with scent free workplace rules Must be vaccinated, willing to wear a mask and take Covid-19 precautions Duties include: Cooking daily meals according to dietary restrictions Household cleaning Grocery shopping Picking up mail and prescriptions Walking medical assistance dog (on leash) Assisting with household tasks as needed Driving and accompanying on outings Accompanying and assisting with carrying gear/supporting wheelchair user during outdoor activities including fishing, photography, and videography.
