Who we are: At IDM Youth Services (IDMYS) we believe that all people have the opportunity to live in a safe, stable, supportive environment. IDMYS provides all-inclusive care in a residential setting to one of the most vulnerable populations, at-risk youth. All-inclusive care includes everything from cooking, cleaning, and driving to and from appointments, to administering medications, to offering emotional and behavioural support. Our team at IDMYS is dedicated to providing superior care and support in everything we do for the youth we serve. We are currently looking for Specialized Child and Youth Workers to join our amazing team. This position involves providing care to children and youth with severe behavioural problems in a specialized residential setting. What we are looking for: • Diploma in a related human/ social service field. • Experience working with aggressive and/ or suicidal behaviours. • Two years recent related experience • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. • Excellent communicator who is understanding, patient, and non-judgmental while providing exceptional care to our youth. • Computer literacy. • Must be 19 years or older • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position including physically intervening when self-harming and/or violent behaviours are present. We take care of our Team!· • Training: Successful applicants for this position will receive the following employer paid training courses: - CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification; Mental Health First Aid- Supporting Youth; Sanyas Cultural Safety Training; Mental Health 101; PTSD- Making Sense of Aggression; Work Safe BC- Plan before you drive clients Compensation, hours, and location: Compensation starts at $23.10 per hour and requires union membership. Hours are varied and a variety of shifts in Duncan, B.C. are currently available.
