Hello all! My husband and I have decided we're ready to take the leap and get a dog, so we're starting to look around and do some research on finding our future furry friend. We're hoping to wind up with a golden retriever or a lab, as friendliness and ease of training are both high priority for us - but we're open to any medium-large sized dog and we aren't worried about whether it's purebred if it's the right fit. We're also hoping to adopt a puppy between the eight week old and ten week old mark so we can start to work on training and socialization right away. A bit about us - we live and work in rural Duncan. We live an active life and do lots of hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and camping. We intend to dedicate significant time and effort to our new family member and plan on working with a professional trainer - as well as bringing the puppy on all of our adventures. I work as a Counsellor and it's my goal to train the dog and have it certified as a therapy dog so that I can work with it every day (another reason we're looking at labs and goldens). It's important to us to support responsible breeding standards so we'd like to be able to meet mom (and dad if he's around), as well as see the environment that the puppy's being raised in. We're prepared to pay a fair price comparable to prices for other dogs in BC. We're also prepared to travel for the right dog, but we'd prefer to stay within Vancouver Island (The Cowichan Valley if possible). If you have puppies or you're planning a litter and looking for good homes, please get in touch! We'd love to chat and answer any other questions you may have - it's important that it's a good fit for all involved. Happy New Year and Best Wishes! Kelsey and Theo
