Cowichan Green Community Cowichan Agricultural Seed Hub Participant Seed Farm Equipment Coordinator Overview: The participant will report directly to the Cowichan Agricultural Seed Hub Supervisor and will assist with the running of the Cowichan Agricultural Seed Hub project. Duties: This position will be accountable for the following: Basic Farm Duties: * Bed cleanup * Bed maintenance * Seeding, transplanting and harvesting * General maintenance of property including mowing, pollinator bed maintenance and keeping the portable clean * Crop observations Equipment Management: * Maintain equipment and farm vehicle * Inspect equipment in library prior to and after renting * Train renters on how to properly use equipment * Write inspection forms * Order parts as needed * Make repairs as needed * Maintain inventory of equipment Experience and Knowledge: * Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks * Workable knowledge of mechanics, particularly small engines, an asset * Knowledge of gardening/farming Working Conditions: This position will work both in an office setting and farm setting. This position will work on a contract basis of 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends for the duration of the contract which ends March 2020. Eligibility: To qualify for this position participants must be: * On Employment Insurance (EI) or * Eligible for reach back- on EI within the last five years * Identified in the back to work action plan through Work BC
