Cowichan Green Community Cowichan Agricultural Seed Hub Participant Seed Farm Coordinator Position Overview: The participant will report directly to the Cowichan Agricultural Seed Hub Supervisor and will assist with the set up and delivery of the Cowichan Agricultural Seed Hub project. Duties: This position will be accountable for the following: Basic Farm Duties: * Bed cleanup * Bed maintenance * Seeding, transplanting and harvesting * General maintenance of property including mowing, pollinator bed maintenance and keeping the portable clean * Crop observations Coordination: * Complete daily farm walk-through * Schedule day to day farm tasks and maintenance * Work with Seed Farm Outreach Coordinator to plan outreach participant programming * Work with supervisor to schedule planting, transplanting and harvesting * Check weather reports daily * Maintain farm journal with dates, weather report and activities completed * Maintain crop records for drought tolerant breeding program Experience and Knowledge: * Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks * Experience in supervision an asset * Knowledge of gardening/farming Working Conditions: This position will work both in an office setting and farm setting. This position will work on a contract basis of 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends for the duration of the contract. Eligibility: To qualify for this position participants must be: * On Employment Insurance (EI) or * Eligible for reach back- on EI within the last five years * Identified in the back to work action plan through Ethos (Global Vocational)
