Job hours and wage This is a part time role that will cover a maternity leave from April 1 to July 15th (3 1⁄2 months). The hours of work are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 8:30am - 5:30pm (27 hrs/week). After the mat leave there will be one day/week of employment available (with the possibility of more days). This a contract position paying $18 per hour. About the house: The client currently lives on a 5-acre working farm with 3 dogs and 3 cats, lots of chickens, sheep, geese and a horse. The homeowner is one of the caregivers and has a 16 year old daughter living at home. From time to time, volunteer farm workers will live in the house with the homeowner helping her with the farm. Care aid is not responsible for animals, but a love and respect for animals is mandatory. Job responsibilities: ● To understand the care and support needs of the client -- knowledge/willingness to learn about dementia encouraged ● To encourage independence and motivation ● To assist with getting up and moving in the morning ● To assist with getting in and out of shower safely ● To assist with continence management ● To assist with the provision of medication ● To prepare meals, being aware of the client's likes/dislikes and nutritional needs ● To provide light general household domestic duties, including light housework, laundry and cooking ● To take responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment belonging to the client and household ● To maintain good communication and develop an effective working relationship with the client and other support staff ● To provide companionship to the client, actively talking and listening to them about their interests (a good sense of humour is a must!) ● To help the client maintain contact with their family and friends ● To accompany the client on trips into the community and daily walks (weather permitting) ● To ensure that the client is as safe as possible within the living environment while also respecting their rights and freedom of choice Contact Please call Bridget at 604-603-1658 for more information or to arrange an interview.
