Kitchen Assistant/Entry-Level Second Cook (Casual/On-Call)

Ts'i'ts'uwatul' Lelum Assisted Living provides a positive, supportive environment for the Residents who make Ts'i'ts'uwatul' Lelum their home. This is a casual/on-call position. Key Job Functions & Responsibilities -Contributing to providing a safe and stable environment for all residents -Assisting Kitchen Supervisor and/or Second Cook with dishing up meal plates -Assisting the dining room staff with serving meals when required -Monitoring and documenting dishwashing equipment for temperature control, making sure soap and rinse dispensers are properly filled and maintained -Soaking, rinsing, and washing all dishes, cutlery, pots and pans etc -Putting all dishes, cutlery, pots and pans away on appropriate shelves -Ensuring that sink area is washed down and sanitized several times per day -Wiping down counters, sinks and doors as required -Following daily cleaning schedule outlined by the Kitchen Supervisor -Preparing food -Other related duties as may be required Qualifications -At least one year of experience in a high volume, kitchen environment -Current First Aid Level l Certificate (updated every 3 years) -Current Food Safe Level I Certificate -Current WHMIS Certificate -Experience working with Elders, seniors and persons with disabilities in an assisted living setting is considered an asset Required Knowledge and Skills -Strong time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills -Ability to work under pressure in a sometimes fast-paced environment -Ability respond effectively and calmly in crisis situations -Capable of being socially sensitive to Indigenous issues and concerns We hire employees of all cultures including Inuit, Metis, Indigenous, status, non-status, and non-Indigenous.
