Full time garden & landscape helper required starting immediately. I'm seeking an enthusiastic hard working individual to join me four to five days per week. Tuesday's in Sidney / North Saanich (employees can meet me at the Mill Bay ferry) and Wednesday and Thursday in the Cowichan Valley. Experience is preferred but I'm happy to teach / train. I require someone who can stay on with my company through the season. Come join me and I can help to increase your knowledge of; plant names, soil microbiology & soil amendments, pruning techniques from small herbaceous plants to trees, seasonal plant care, lawn care management, garden bed maintenance techniques, seasonal landscape care, power equipment operations, micro irrigation and installing plants and garden beds. You must be able to; lift 50lbs, handle hard physical work all day, working in the cold rain and be approachable and friendly. Typical duties are; weeding, pruning, hauling green waste, mowing, spreading compost / mulch, planting / transplanting, shoveling various materials, raking etc. We are a organic garden maintenance company and focus on safe and sustainable garden practices. I'm seeking people that share these values of organic practices. Please no smokers. You must be healthy and fit. You are also required to have a mobile phone and your own hand held garden pruners, rain gear and steel toed boots. If you have applied to us before please do so again. Initial pay is based on experience. The hours per day are weather dependent and are usually between 6.5 to 8.5 hours. Starting pay is $17 to $19 / hr depending on experience.
