You: have a house in Chemainus that's unoccupied. It's a 3 bedroom, or 2 bedroom plus den, close to downtown (within 15 minute walk), and has lots of character. It's bright, and even has a view. You won't trust it with just anyone, though. Renting it out is not so much about the money, but rather to know it's being taken care of, and a bit of extra income won't hurt either. Us: We're a couple in our early 50s, one a former RMT and now small business owner, the other a former university program manager and now screenwriter. Non-smokers, and we don't party like it's 1999 (if we ever did). We moved to Vancouver Island summer 2019 to scout around and see where might be the best fit, and Chemainus is amazing. Ultimately we want to buy a house in a year or two, but for now we'd like to rent. Chemainus is also closer to our 92 year old father (-in-law) in Victoria. We both work from home and have a well-behaved 10 year old indoor cat. He's travelled across Canada with us in a Matrix hatchback, and stayed in cat-friendly hotels with nary a complaint. We have stellar references from previous landlords. We are quiet and respectful, and more than happy to put in a bit of elbow grease to make a place our proper home. (We painted the interior of our current rental - with our landlady's blessing on colour choice - completely on our own dime. The result was a much brighter house throughout.) We're looking for something in the range of $1500 (+/-). We're excited about our move to Chemainus, and can't wait to find our new rental. Oh, and our move-in date is flexible. Thanks for reading!
