1983 Ericson 28+ "Ruckus" - Located in Duncan The perfect starter boat to cruise and explore the Gulf Islands, Sunshine Coast and Broughtons on weekends or for weeks at a time. Ready to sail and cruise immediately. She loves to be under sail, often outpacing boats larger than her. She's very light, maneuverable and manageable for a solo sailor or couple with all lines led aft to the cockpit and a new Tiller Clutch installed, allowing periods of hand free steering. She has a new foresail with only one season of use on it. Ericson's are strong, well-designed boats with excellent reputations. Her engine is incredibly economical and efficient. Previous owners have brought her as far as the remote and stunning Princess Louisa Inlet, and over several summers I have brought her through the Gulf islands and up part of the Sunshine Coast as well as serving as a functional liveaboard. Her cockpit is quite large, allowing day sailing with 4 or more people, her interior is airy and open with warm wood and light coloured cushions. She has 4 fixed portlights, 2 opening portlights with built in mesh screens and a massive forward hatch, which allows you to stargaze while lying in bed, and funnels airflow through the boat on hot days at anchor. The companion way hatch is custom plexi, which adds natural light, opening the space. There is also a double quarter berth, which serves well both as a guest bed, or a storage "garage". Since owning the boat from Fall 2018, numerous upgrades have been made including: new foresail, new anchor and chain, new hot water heater, entirely new plumbing, new wiring, new solar controller and inverter, new batteries and more. She has been used and loved, but after learning and adventuring extensively on her for the last few years, I will be upgrading to a larger boat. Boat last hauled out in 2020, where I spent several days sanding down years of built up antifouling, and reapplying much smoother coats, and installed zincs, replaced through-hulls and polished the hull. Hull inspected by diver this August and cleaned in the water, boat will require new zincs as they were knocked off in cleaning process. The boat is ready to be used and enjoyed immediately for the last half of the cruising season, and off-season sailing. You can call, text, or email me to set up a viewing. https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/ericson-28 Length: 28' 6" Beam: 10'6" Draft: 5' Displacement: 7500lbs empty Engine: Universal 5411 (11hp) - full inspection and repairs 2019 by Gartside Marine - new head gasket (2019) - heat exchanger flushed (2022) - glow plug shunt (new 2019) - 3 blade prop (Campbell Sailor) Sailing: - 7/8ths fractional rig sloop - Tiller Clutch X (2022) - 2 self tailing sheet winches, 1 non-self tailing halyward winch on cabin top - adjustable backstay - tiller refinished (2022) Foresail: UK Sailmakers (2021) - 110% - 2 "reef" points with foam luff pad, reef patches, Sunbrella UV cover - roller furling Mainsail - 2 reefs, lazy jacks Anchor System: - Rocna 10kg anchor (2020) - 75' G40 chain, >300' triple strand rope - secondary anchor = danforth Plumbing: - entirely new plumbing (PEX tubing, sharkbite fittings) (2022) - new plastimo water bladders 2022 (100L under settee installed, +50L ready to install vberth) - freshwater pump (2022) - head faucet with shower hose built in (2022) - new hot water heater (heats via 100V AC/shore power and engine) - water filter attached to foot pump (2022) Electrical: - Victron 75/15 MPPT Solar Smart Charge controller with bluetooth (2019) with 80W solar panels mounted to cockpit rail - 500W inverter (2019) - Victron battery monitor (2019) - most electrical wiring replaced with assistance of marine electrician 2019/2020 - LED interior lights (2019) - custom electrical panel with new switch boards (2019) - new batteries (2022) - ACR - 12V and USB chargers installed 2022 Navigation: - Lowrance GPS/radar dual screen unit mounted in cockpit - GPS has navionics SD card - Lowrance radar on aluminum post - Standard Horizons depth sounder - VHF radio Safety: - all bronze seacocks replaced since 2018 - lifesling - swim ladder - fire extinguisher - 2x haul-rope bags - manual bilge pump (cockpit) rebuilt 2021 - electric bilge pump, bilge pump float switch - carbon monoxide alarm x2 - propane sniffer and solenoid (emergency cutoff) - compass Other Features: - SIG marine diesel furnace (very dry heat, incredibly efficient) - 3 burner Force 10 propane stove/oven - Magma cockpit BBQ - foot pump fresh water in galley - folding settee table - boat has dodger - stitching needs redone - custom plexi hatch (2019) - Hypervent under mattress (prevents condensation)
