I made this sword as a little hobby. It has a genuine leather wrapped handle, and it is made entirely of hardwood. The blade is yew and the cross guard is ebony. The wood reveals an absolutely bueatiful grain where the side meets the bevel. The entirety of the sword blade and cross guard has been oiled to bring out rich colour, and then coated with a water repellent seal, so the sword could be dunked in water without any damage to the wood. The leather was glued onto the handle though, so it probably wouldn't be great if the handle were submerged for too long. I wood burned the Japanese characters for strength and courage on opposite sides of the blade. I spent roughly 40 man hours on this project.
